Bush gets the boot IRL
Par Nora
Last Sunday, Bush made a surprise visit to Baghdad, where he and Iraq Prime Minister signed a security agreement for the withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq. Obviously, « surprise visit » doesn’t carry the same meaning for us normal people, because to Bush surprise visit = signing a super important agreement.
Anyway, the funny part of the story is when at the press conference an Iraqi TV journalist threw both his shoes at George W., who, by his unconcerned look and swift dodge, must have been taking self-defense lessons with ninjas.
We can see that for just one second, everyone’s wondering whether Muntadar al-Zeidi had spotted a giant bumblebee and thus tried to save the president’s life by throwing his shoes at it. But actually, no, because he then yelled in Arabic « This is a farewell kiss, you dog, this is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq. »
And you can’t possibly hate a bumblebee that much. Click on the picture to see the video, the scene is played 7 or 8 times in a row.
In Iraq, throwing shoes at someone is a sign of contempt. But maybe Muntadar just doesn’t like surprises much, plus he had planned a hammam Sunday.
